BELOW THE FULL TEXT OF THE LETTER SENT BY THE MAYOR OF SIDERNO MARIATERESA FRAGOMENI TO THE ACTA COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH IN CALABRIA ROBERTO OCCHIUTO AND THE SPA COMMISSIONER OF REGGIO CALABRIA SCAFFIDI
I would like to draw your attention, as Commissioner announcement actaa question that concerns the old hospital in Siderno, for which, as you know, around 10 million euros have been allocated for interventions that will allow the creation of the Casa della Salute.
A few weeks ago, in fact, the contract was signed (between the Rc ASP and the company Euro Project Engineering Consulting srl) for the services of technical investigation, drafting of the feasibility document of the design variants, final and executive design , management of the coordination of works and safety in the design and execution phase relating to the “functional transformation of the former Siderno hospital into a nursing home”.
The offices and clinics of the Health District, the Prevention Service (legal medicine, food and nutritional hygiene service, public hygiene, sports medicine), the Territorial Pharmacy, the Vaccination Center, the SERT are currently located in the building. a space equal to about a third of the whole building and which regularly provide services to citizens, both Sidernese and not.
Not having the adequate technical skills to do a review, I feared a few days ago, perhaps unjustifiably, that at the start of the renovations, the aforementioned services would be moved to another building.
If that were to happen, I believe it is possible to avoid transferring all the activities at once, not on the basis of my technical knowledge – which I do not have, as I said – but simply remembering that we are in the planning phase (and therefore it is possible to foresee how to overcome this problem) and that even heavy structural interventions have been carried out in all the major Calabrian hospitals without the activities being transferred to a different structure , even continuing to guarantee them internally.
So if this has been possible in hospitals, which have a particularly complex organization and are notoriously lacking in space, I think it is possible to achieve this even more in a structure which provides ambulatory care, has available considerable space and 4 independent entrances.
Consider therefore the fact that with the interventions foreseen in the PNRR, many buildings, such as schools, will have to be cleaned – with a consequent transfer of activities to other public structures – and therefore, even taking into account this aspect, it would be appropriate to maintain the said health services in the current premises, given their particularity which is not easily reconciled with the easy identification of alternative structures.
Finally, allow me to make another thought that there is nothing “technical” about it, but which, in my opinion, is no less important. As we know, Siderno is emerging from a phase of troubled administrative management, which over the past ten years has seen the alternation of several prefectural commissions, and only a few months ago the citizens returned to elect their representatives by through elections.
here is PresidentI am wrong, but I believe that at this particular time in the life of this city, giving continuity to health activities at the old hospital would have a particular institutional meaning and would allow all users to see with their own eyes that the works are actually taking place and they are moving forward and not a sign saying “closed for works”, which often did not give hope in these regions.
Sure of a positive response, I send you my best regards.
