Mind Village opens up to the city: events, green spaces and sports

On April 30, Mind (Milano Innovation District) opens to the city. Seven years after the inauguration of Expo 2015, the first batch of the maxi project which is being built on the ashes of the universal exhibition with an investment of 1 billion euros, opens its doors to everyone to make themselves known. Mind village will be inaugurated on April 30 and May 1 with a program of events, concerts, shows and spaces for outdoor sports (mindvillage.it/primavera-mind-fest).

The Mind Village is located in the western part of the area which extends over one million square meters, is the first core of the Innovation District dedicated to life sciences and cities of the future, which will come into full capacity in 2031. The headquarters of AstraZeneca, Esselunga, Bio4Dreams, a certified incubator of innovative life science start-ups, Rold and Illumina, the leading genomic sequencing company which has decided to open its unique headquarters in Southern Europe in Milano. The buildings overlook a green courtyard equipped with open wi-fi, tables with electrical outlets where, in addition to the employees of these first established companies, anyone from May 2 can go to study and work.

In the “West Gate”, which covers 480 thousand square meters and can be reached from the M1 Rho Fiera stop, is the transport hub, the area intended for parking and electric mobility (no access to the car in the area), a hotel with 350 rooms which, with a total of one thousand apartments, aims to offer hospitality from one night to 4 years, 13,000 square meters of shops, offices, the two buildings Zenith and Horizon that offer flexible workspaces. Opposite is the Food and Health Park, overlooked by the Mind Village, which represents a miniature innovation district. Here is also the Village Pavillion which houses the Designtech Innovation hub and the Skydeck, the start-up accelerator slid directly from Silicon Valley to Rho.

Mind reflects the will of Arexpo, majority public company owner of the territory and Lendlease, to create an ecosystem of socio-economic growth that connects companies, start-ups and universities to the best talents in the world, promoting technological exchange between research and business. .

Of the total 1 million square meters of the district, 350 thousand (concentrated in the eastern part) host public functions: Human Technopole, Galeazzi Hospital, Triulza Foundation and soon also the State University Campus. The Human Technopole, Italy’s new life sciences institute with over a thousand researchers, housed in the Palazzo Italia, will be completed in 2026. The new 500-bed Galeazzi Hospital (to be completed by the end of the year), which will also be voted for experimentation (digital medicine and tele-rehabilitation), the 18,000 State students are expected in 2025.
