music, food and typical beers in the Arena gardens

PADUA – There Ireland Day in Padua: until Sunday every day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Arena Gardens along the corso del Popolo are revived with greenery for the popular Festa di Saint Patrick. The event, skipped for the past two years due to Covid, will for the first time be held in the shadow of the Scrovegni Chapel and will offer a rich menu of the music live and events, Irish cuisine with sweet and savory specialties and traditional Irish ales for lunch and dinner. You can taste the angus steak with Irish sauce, the stew or even the Guinness pork shank, the Irish sausage sandwich but the veggie burger will also be available. The atmosphere recreated in collaboration with Via Audio will resemble that of the banks of the River Shannon or an old Irish country inn or pub in Temple Bar. Days and nights will be made of harps and violins, flutes and soft bagpipes, bodhran and beating guitars, between frenzied dances and tinkling pints.

«We want to offer a moment of leisure in such a bad period that we are living – says the organizer of Padua Antonio Collella – the event is deliberately not impactful given the beautiful place where we are. Instead of the 60 meters of grills planned in a place like the Parco della Musica, we have set up a 25-meter counter where all the typical dishes and drinks of the Nordic country will be prepared. Prizes will also be appreciated as we are expecting a lot of families especially at weekends and we will also be putting tables near the children’s games so parents can dine while keeping an eye on their children. We did not think of an inauguration with the classic barrel breaking to avoid gatherings, the choreography will be characterized by many green flags and part of the staff will be dressed in kilts and Irish colors. The staff concerned will be around fifty people, including 10 security and cleaning agents for the area”.

The billboard of concerts on the big stage behind the Scrovegni presents tonight and tomorrow at 9 p.m. “The Bandaronians” (Daniele Bicego – uilleann pipes belonging to the bagpipe sector, flutes; Gianmaria Valente – vocals, bodhran; Marco Ferretti – guitar); on Saturday at 7 p.m. there will be the presentation of the books “Erin’s Walls” And “The poppy & the lily” with the author Gianluca Cettine and at 9 p.m. the singing of Sophie Liebregts and Valerio Vettori; Sunday at 9 p.m. the festival will close theAcoustic Duo Andrea Rock & The Rebel Poets. “Taste and pleasure are symbols of life itself, inextricably linked to the pleasure of the noblest senses, to aggregation and to sociality – concludes Colella – both are constantly evolving, linking to research, to experimentation, to changing times, to the fusion of cultures and horizons”. Free admission from 6 p.m. with a free offer from 8 p.m. as a contribution to the shows. Reservation is not necessary due to the wide availability of tables and cutlery, however, in accordance with the regulations in force, the green pass is compulsory to sit down and consume.
