An event entirely focused on the role of plastic surgery in its multiple aspects of recovering forms related to women’s health. This is the theme of the debate entitled “Plastic surgery and women’s health”, promoted by Professor Francesco D’Andrea, director of the plastic and aesthetic surgery department of the Federico II Polyclinic of Naples, which will be held on Tuesday, April 26 in 9:30 a.m. at the Naples Tennis Club, in Viale Dohrn (Villa Comunale).
“Plastic surgery, understood as a specialty that deals with the recovery of lost shapes for various reasons – says D’Andrea – is mainly, but not exclusively, interested in women’s health. Considering that today the health does not mean the absence of disease but a state of complex psychophysical well-being, plastic surgery, due to its characteristics, becomes in many situations the appropriate tool to achieve this goal”.
Plastic surgery and breast cancer
“In breast cancer, for example – emphasizes D’Andrea – plastic surgery plays a very important role, since it reconstructs a mutilated breast removed for oncological reasons, and allows to guarantee a quality of survival to those who have already had the misfortune to meet the In this regard, in synergy with the Campania region, there is a project to expand the presence of the plastic surgeon in all breast units to give equal opportunities to women who suffer from this serious disease “. Speaking about the importance of the reconstructive surgical approach in breast cancer, Flori Degrassi, national president of ANDOS onlus (Association of women operated on the breast), declares: “ANDOS fought so that the plastic surgeon brings his techniques inside the breast unit Symmetry, after breast cancer surgery, is fundamental to obtain the physical and psychological rehabilitation of the woman. The new therapeutic techniques allow ever better aesthetic results and help to restore confidence in self to the woman and, therefore, to make her stronger and more self-confident”.
Participating in the roundtable was a very important stakeholder audience. After the usual greetings from the president of the Campania region, Vincenzo De Luca, the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, the president of the Order of Physicians of Naples, Bruno Zuccarelli, the director of the newspaper Il Mattino, Federico Monga, the president of the Circolo Tennis Club Napoli, Riccardo Villari, and the president of the company Polaris Farmaceutici, Nazario Matachione, the discussion will begin, introduced by Professor Francesco D’Andrea and moderated by the journalist Cristiana Barone.
