Serie B results: Pordenone relegated

Grgiorossi returns to the lead with the comeback win over Cosenza. Pugliesi beaten by Reggina, Caserta team tar green and black going down to C. Perugia away win in Vicenza, Ferraresi one step away from KO with Crotone

In the intense afternoon of Easter Monday in Serie B falls the first sentence of the championship: the relegation of Pordenone. He would be forced to win and instead fell 4-1 at home to a Benevento still in contention for direct promotion. Arithmetic, on the contrary, does not condemn Crotone for the moment, stopped in extremis by Spal and by the goal of Pepito Rossi (1-1), also because in the red zone (while waiting for Alexandria) they all lose. Cosenza passes 3-1 ko against Cremonese, still leader with 66 points. One more than Lecce, stopped by Reggina. Perugia, on the other hand, are closing in on Frosinone (eighth) and the playoffs, overturning the challenge 2-1 with Vicenza third last thanks to Segre’s first league goal. With the next races, however, the upper part of the classification will be defined. At 6 p.m., Cittadella-Alessandria, Parma-Ascoli, Pisa-Como and Ternana-Frosinone play. At 8:30 p.m. it will be the turn of the derby between Monza and Brescia.

Spal 1-1 Crotone

Practically throughout the game, Crotone feels the taste of a success – it would have been the first outside – which would have guaranteed a little more hope. And in fact the rossoblùs start very strong, taking the advantage after 7 minutes with Schnegg, left alone at the far post and caught by a cross from Marras. This is his first goal in this league. Then the Crotone passes immediately very close to the double with a header from Kargbo. Spal tries to react, but fails to take advantage of a series of idle balls and at 23′ it turns out to be a photocopy of the one who led 1-0, but on the opposite wing. Schnegg sgroppata and ball for Maric, who hits high. Beyond luck for the hosts with a head from Da Riva, served by Vido. At 36′ Crotone is again dangerous with Schnegg, on developing a short corner in the box. Another confirmation of the suffering of the Ferraresi in the first half, closed by a counter-attack by the Modesto team on which Demba Thiam performed a miracle, deflecting the plateau of Kargbo on the post. In the second half, Venturato restarts with three changes: Finotto, Meccariello and Esposito enter for Vido, Vicari and Da Riva. The shock is felt and little by little Spal regains the ground. After the 60 ‘ Colombo also comes out for Melchiorri, who has the ball of possible equality on the left. Ten minutes later, Giuseppe Rossi also sees himself again, a month later. First he comes close to 1-1 with a left-hander on the fly on a decisive pass from Mancosu, then scores the equalizer. Cross from Melchiorri, control and shoot. Third goal in the league, this time very heavy to stay away from the playoffs. Even if it’s not here.

Cremonese-Cosenza 3-1

Cosenza is looking for big save points and after 180 seconds they surprise the hosts with an insistent action in which the final touch is from Larrivey. But for the escape of the Cremonese, which returns to the top of the B, it is only a matter of time. Gaetano takes care of it. First equalizer at 16′ with a shot from the surface. Then, while the guests lose Situm on a physical problem (Liotti in his place), he scores a crazy goal. Descent into the area and the defenders strewn one after the other with feints. Accounts appear to be closed before the break due to Vaisanen’s own goal from a pass from Fagioli. Cosenza remains in the playing area, in fourth from last place, and can breathe a sigh of relief as the distance to the pursuers remains unchanged.

pordenone-benevento 1-4

Eleven points behind with Cosenza fourth from bottom as three games miss is too much and therefore Pordenone becomes the first relegation of this season. From the first minute, Benevento is a hammer, wins 4-1 and overtakes Monza in third place, although Brianza still has to play. A double from Moncini in less than twenty minutes makes things easier. First a header on an assist from Farias, then he controls the heel in the box and releases a jab from the right. Tello touches the 3-0, while at 32 ‘we also see Pordenone with Cambiaghi. The first half ends with a high free kick from Petriccione. At 67’ the 3-0 is a billiard shot (per turn) by Farias, who then also scores in poker. Until Gavazzi at 86 ‘does not start marking pride.

Vicenza-Perugia 1-2

Baldini’s first Vicenza approached the match well, but over the minutes the opportunity to hang Cosenza on 28 points faded, remaining for the moment in the surface which was worth direct relegation. Dalmonte scores immediately thanks to a ball recovered by Diaw. Pérouse replies at 17′ when the defender Curado shoots the highest of all on a corner. The guests have the chance to advance as soon as the first half ends, with De Luca taking advantage of a mess from De Maio and Contini. Ayroldi, however, concerns the action and cancels everything for contact between the striker and the goalkeeper. Verdict a little postponed: in the 57th minute Segre stings perfectly in the area and heads the first goal of his championship. Shortly before Chichizola had saved on Giacomelli.

Reggina-Lecce 1-0

After three consecutive victories, Lecce engulfs the Reggina pitch and loses the championship scepter. Folorunsho, 24, decides from the center, good to meet Gabriel’s parade on Kupisz. Goal arrived in added time of the first half with too many interruptions and a good dose of competition to the detriment of quality. With Coda obliged to also try with a car from midfield. When the game resumes, Lecce has a different attitude, immediately hits a crossbar with Strefezza and then puts the hosts under siege, but without the result being unlocked. Big chance for Coda in the final, the ball caressing the outside of the net.
