Sports and inclusion Sunday in Scopigno with the Special Football tournament and the memory of Marco Tosti

The lawn of the Centro d’Italia Manlio stadium Scopigno tomorrow will be the magnificent setting for a great moment of sport and inclusion. After the prologue of the day in Altopascio (Lucca) dedicated to divisionning, a sort of preliminary test, it’s time for the tournament Football Special to bring the first of its three days live.

The event is organized by the provincial team of Special Olympics and by the Municipality of Rieti, which, together with the director responsible for sport Roberto Donati, enthusiastically welcomed the proposal to host this event, in collaboration with the Lazio team and with the contribution of the Lazio region, thanks to the “Together united, we can project”.

During the day, which will be attended by many local authorities and the directors of the provincial (Morena De Marco) and regional (Stefania Cardenia) teams, there will be a moment dedicated to the memory of the young Marco Tosti, whose family is still close to Special Olympics. Here are all the teams participating in the Tournament that have obtained the patronage of the Municipality and the Province of Rieti: Dinamica Odv Roccapriora, Albano Primavera, Circolo Canottieri Tevere Remo, Filo Onlus, Superboys and Upd Isolotto. Two teams aligned by the FD 18 Special which has been operating for two seasons within the Polisportiva Cantalice.

The arrival at the stadium of the Ascoli player should represent the Cantal club, Federico Dionisi, big fan of Special Olympics and first supporter of the Rieti team. The next stages of Special Football will move to Florence (Saturday May 7) and Latina (Sunday May 29), close to the away match of the National Games in Turin (June 4-9). Thanks to the Uisp of Rieti, always close to Special Olympics, who will send the match directors, to the Rieti Football Club and to the Rieti 1936 Football School for logistical support, to Antiche Fonti di Cottorella, official supplier of the event, to the Rieti Committee of the Italian Red Cross and to Dr. Francesco Belloni for their availability.

Special Football is the football tournament Special Olympics divided into three concentration: North-East, North-West and Center-South. The Tournament takes place from February to May and arises from the need to give Athletes the possibility of confronting each other, continuously, throughout the year during stages organized every two weeks. 5-a-side unified football matches are planned.
