the refugee plan is triggered. This is how the city lives in the moment

PORTO SAN GIORGIO – After the launch of the campaign for solidarity Porto San Giorgio helps Ukraine with aid collection centers and welcomed the arrival of the first 34 refugees at the port, the Municipality has defined with the social sector the guidelines for reception and health care in our territory.

Social policy adviser Francesco Gramegna illustrates the main aspects. According to the first operational indications, the refugees must go as soon as possible (and in any case within 8 days of their arrival) to the Fermo police headquarters to report their presence while the people hosting Ukrainians in the 48 hours after their arrival are required to formalize an appropriate ”declaration of hospitality” (indicating who is hosting and where) to the public security authority. If the refugees already have reference figures in the region, they can be welcomed there. Otherwise, the reception system will be prepared by the Prefecture, according to the channels indicated by the Government, through the national network of Cases (Extraordinary Reception Centers) and Sai (Reception and Integration System) in agreement with local authorities.

In the meantime, the Caritas of Porto San Giorgio, at Jesus Redentore parish, via Silenzi, 4, every Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., organizes a collection of basic necessities for the Ukrainian population. It will be possible to donate preserves, energy bars, water, condiments, nuts, cereals, etc. And also: alcohol or disinfectant, medical kit, sanitary napkins, baby diapers, porridge, adult diapers, towels, kitchen equipment: plates, glasses, plastic or silicone cutlery, masks. For now, we are asking to step up food donations and not to donate clothes. The assets collected will be handed over to the Civil Protection, which in turn will organize the distribution to Ukrainian families who will go to their headquarters with the documentation issued by the Prefecture of Police.

All individuals who intend to make further donations can contact both Caritas and Civil Protection. Goods delivery hours are Tuesdays and Fridays from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. We also invite you to report the possible availability in the territory of residential units and individual apartments of private ownership or other accommodation facilities, suitable for the reception of refugees.
