World Health Day: Frequenting the natural environment makes us feel good

In a few days it will be celebrated World Health Day, an international event held annually on April 7 with the aim of reminding the world of a crucial issue at the global level: the achievement of the best possible level of well-being by the world’s population. The decisive aspect concerns the very definition of health, understood not only as the absence of disease but also as physical and mental well-being.

This anniversary is closely linked to the World Health Organization (WHO) and in this year 2022, perhaps more than in previous years, this celebration is seen with care and hopedue to the subtext related to the interaction between wellness and the novel coronavirus.

TERRITORY HEALTH AND HUMAN HEALTH

The TeFFit – OE network, which deals with forest therapies, decided to organize an online event to promote the idea of sound land management and reason scientifically about activities in nature for health development purposes. “It seemed useful to us to involve at this time subjects from the world of doctors who can contribute to the process of affirming the importance of the environment for human health and the healthy environment, but also representatives of the world parks, and land management,” explains President Raoul Fiordiponti.

The objective is the creation of a “platform” for reflection and planning on Green Prescriptions which, starting from experiences, can define the role of the natural environment and its use for the well-being of the population. “Green Prescriptions represent an alternative to the discretionary use and abuse of drugs for many inconveniences: by curbing less healthy habits, they would slow down the chronicization of many pathologies and their complications, thus helping to reduce the need for prescriptions pharmacological and diagnostic investigations. “.

This reduction could correspond less exploitation and pollution of the environment in favor of global health. By also avoiding the return of damage to human health, this would improve the quality of our life,” adds Raoul Fiordiponti.

THE EVENT

The event is organized in two phases: an online conference on Thursday April 7 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. which will be broadcast on the Facebook channel Forest therapies in Italian forests followed by three days – Friday April 8, Saturday April 9 and Sunday April 10 – dedicated to the forest immersed in the national territory. The organizers of the TeFFIt – OE network will offer, to anyone wishing to participate, a calendar of initiation to diving in the forest.

Green Prescriptions are an alternative to discretionary use and abuse of medications for many annoyances

These proposals organized locally by the network of conductors will represent a chance to have a real relationship with the forest, not mediated by techniques, philosophies, sports, psychological practices. This is how everyone can experience the improvement of their psycho-physical condition and the rebalancing of their organism through the frequentation of specific forest environments.
